‘The Rapture of Europe’ is an experimental piece produced between projects.
This personal project is based on the Greek myth "The Rapture Of Europa" (also known as the “Consort of Zeus”). In Greek mythology, Europa, after whom the continent of Europe is named, was a Phoenician princess of Argive Greek origin, and the mother of King Minos of Crete. Her abduction by Zeus in the form of a bull was a Cretan story. This ancient myth has been explored by numerous artists of several eras; from Greek vases and Roman mosaics, through Titian, Rembrandt and Goya, to modern artists like Félix Vallotton and León de Pas. JM Blay directed and designed this animation.
